Blick Engineering for HDD Seminar
Blick and M-I Swaco are proud to present the inaugural one day seminar on the engineering, investigation and design factors that lead to HDD success.
We’re happy to come into your office and present Engineering for HDD to your team.
Call us about what would work for you.
We have developed specialised drilling technology and methodology schools over many years.
For the first time we will be delivering training focused on consultants, design engineers and project managers.
Presented by Sam Rowdon (HDD Project Lead for Asia and South Pacific, M-I Swaco) and technical experts from Blick.
Course content:
The HDD drilling process
Recognise the influence of alignment
Grade, bend radius, depth of installation etc. to design more effective boresWhat value does good quality geotech reporting add?
Considerations for fluid design, stabilising the formation and requirements for hydro-fracture modellingPressure in the hole, too little or too much
Avoiding hydro-fracture and using Virtual Hydraulics software for hole cleaning and pressure simulationWhy does pipe get stuck?
Poorly designed fluid, rate of progress over hole cleaning
This course is for:
Consultants
Regional Body Design Engineers
Project Managers
You will understand:
The value of good quality geotech information, to allow hydro-fracture modelling to inform the design
How methodology influences the success of the bore
How an effective fluid system can mitigate risk and improve outcomes
An overview of the onsite data acquisition required for a successful HDD project including: fluid properties, torque and drag, pump flow rate and pressure and rate of penetration (ROP) etc.
Presented by:
Sam Rowdon
HDD Project Lead for Asia and South Pacific, M-I Swaco
Sam has a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from The University of Auckland, and completed M-I SWACO drilling fluid engineering training in Houston.
Sam and M-I SWACO partner with Blick to provide engineering consultancy services to three waters contracts across New Zealand and Australia.
Supported by technical experts:
Tim Babbage
General Manager, Blick
Tim is the go-to for vertical and directional drilling - focusing on drilling fluids and down hole tooling.
Jon Speedy
Sales Director, Blick
Jon deals with the mineral coring, waterwell and directional drilling markets from Christchurch.
