Using especially hardened steel, and high quality tungsten carbide, we’re proud to stock the Melfred Borzall® range.
Off the shelf in our Hamilton NZ warehouse, we stock a wide range of tooling to suit all rig types. Custom orders are available for uncommon thread combinations or large scale tools.
HDD tools
HDD reamers and towing eyes
Melfred Borzall® reamers are purpose designed for different ground conditions and engineered to last. With replaceable carbide teeth, these reamers will keep working longer than you.
Your towing eye is a critical link in delivering your bore. Not often seen and frequently forgotten - a Melfred Borzall® towing eye is CNC machined from hardened steel, to match your swivel dimensions. Available in all the major thread sizes and pulling weights off the shelf.
Get a glue kit with your towing eye for security. Better safe than sorry with all your underground tooling.
We supply Turbo, Juggernaut, Ogre, Tornado, Hedgehog and Barrel Stabilizers.
HDD blades and bolts
We stock a multitude of long-lasting, premium Melfred Borzall® blades and rock tools, to suit your drilling conditions. From soft clay to hard ground, gravel and cobbles, our range is compatible with all Vermeer® and Ditch Witch® bolt patterns.
We supply Red Diamond, Ultra Bit, Chunky and Steep Taper.
We also stock replacement bolts for your blades. Pick up a spare set with your next blade purchase.
HDD housings and adapters
Melfred Borzall® housings offer dependable quality, and outstanding value. Their side-load, bolt-on and thread-on transmitter housings are designed for Digitrak® transmitters and subsite beacons.

Hard rock drilling
Rock tools
Drilling in hard ground is a different ball game. The tooling is different - requiring a specific fluid system and methodology.
The Melfred Borzall® range of hard rock tooling is engineered for a long life in the toughest conditions. These tools will get you through.
We stock Iron Fists and Eagle Claws.
SD thread on housings
Eagle Claw and Iron Fists require a strong housing. The SD box-to-box housing is heat-treated with chrome-nickel-moly alloy steel, just as our bolt-on transmitter housings, but with monster amounts of hardfacing.
The Box by box design provides unmatched versatility and value, so you can use your Eagle Claw SD, Iron Fist or bolt-on blades (using a bit body) with one housing.
The stainless steel timing mechanism makes clocking the transmitter to the bit a cinch. The straight-through gun-drilled fluid ports allow high fluid volumes.
Add a bolt-on bit body to use your SD thread on housings with a blade.
Tricones and PDC’s
When the going gets harder, the tough get a tricone or PDC. We stock Terelion (formerly Varel) HDD Target tricones and PDCs in a range of sizes to suit.

High Flow end load housings
Rock drilling requires a hard wearing housing that can deliver very high fluid volumes, the Melfred Borzall® High Flow Housings feature:
Multiple fluid passages for maximum flow without pressure restrictions
End-load design for maximum torsional, compressive, and bending strength
Interchangeable adaptors allow the same housing to be used with most locating systems

Mud motors
Serious rock drilling requires a mud motor. The mud motor turns drilling fluid pressure into rotational torque, allowing your tricone to cut through the toughest ground.
The Rock-It Mud Motor offers a higher torque output than other mud motors, to allow for more feed pressure to be put on the bit. The result is a faster penetration rate with reserve power for the hard spots.
The Rock-It utilises a pre-pressured and pressure compensated bearing section, that provides a long seal life, and more dependable bearing operation
Low flow, high torque to accommodate rigs with as low as 40 gpm drill fluid flow for smaller rigs.

Breakaway connectors
Help keep your pipe in spec by including a breakaway connector in your string. Connectors can be mixed and matched to provide the right breakaway resistance for your pipe.
Breakout jaws
We stock high quality replacement cylinder side breakout jaws and stationary side breakout jaws.
Our breakout jaw inserts are manufactured with American oilfield grade tungsten to suit all rod and rig combinations.
Collars
Collars prevent the lead rod over tightening the adaptor, and ensure you can break the connection easily. Manufactured from high quality steel, and faced with carbide to rescue wear, these collars will last the distance.

Digitrack batteries, battery chargers and long life sonde batteries
We stock batteries for Eclipse Locators, and F2 and F5 Receivers. Recharge F2 and F5 batteries with our battery chargers, and get more drilling out of your sonde batteries with our long life lithium batteries.
HDD reconditioned transmitters (SONDES)
We provide a cost effective service to recondition your Digitrak® sonde, so you can get the most out of your equipment.
Every transmitter goes through a meticulous repair process. Elements compromised by overheating and mechanical damage, and all components needed to ensure reliability of repairs (such as transistors, integrated circuits, capacitors, and resistors) are replaced.
All repaired transmitters are shock and vibration resistance tested, as well as thermal resistance tested to simulate in-field usage. Every repaired transmitter is backed by a 100 day warranty, which exceeds factory standards.
Lead rods
A lead rod has the most demanding job of any down hole tool. It needs to be very strong, and flexible, with hard threads to resist wear. Melfred Borzall® Lead Rods are CNC machined from the highest quality tooling steel, and then precise threads are cut, to provide an optimum connection. The collar hex or oct is machine cut to prevent over torquing the adaptor.
Available off the shelf for all common rig types. Customised lead rods and transition rods are available on request.

Rod wipers
Rod wipers are unsung heroes - they keep drilling mud and spoil out of your rig, and away from the moving parts. Rod wipes are available in single split, dual split and solid, in sizes to suit all rod and rig combinations.
Shackles
We have shackles in a range of sizes, to connect the pulling grips and pullers to your swivels.
Bow shackles available in 11mm-22mm, and D shackles in 11mm-19mm.
SuperBolt
For D20X22, D23X30, D24X40 rigs
Melfred Borzall (and key distributors) identified a problem with the way the bolts sheared off for these rigs.
Melfred Borzall designed and tested a better bolt (and the way it is housed to minimise the problem).
Tungsten carbide reamer teeth, and reamer & bit cutter blocks
Refurbish your reamers with tungsten carbide reamer teeth available off the shelf in a range of sizes to suit all reamers.
Bits and blades need love too, freshen them up after a tough job with OEM tungsten cutter blocks and teeth.
Zap Alert
The Zap Alert range incorporates; a Zap Alert unit to warn of a possible power strike, a grounding cable, stake and tester.
Tested from 100 to 100,000 volts AC, this responsive system makes your crew aware of a possible underground power line strike, so you can act faster.
