Van Ruth® plugs & packers
Van Ruth® manufacture high-quality specialised products, facilitating ground stability and water control. They have a vast range of cementing bridge plugs and packers, grouting and dewatering packers, pressure grouting packers, hoisting plugs, float shoes and collars, mechanical packers and associated problem solvers for both surface and underground mining applications.
Van Ruth® equipment is designed to succeed in dealing with many downhole problems, encountered in today's global exploration drilling and mining environment. They focus on directional control, branch holes, dewatering, groundwater preservation, geo-monitoring, permeability testing, zone isolation and ground stability, with an ongoing commitment to mine safety.
Cementing & wedging plug (CW plug)
The Van Ruth® CW Plug (CW) is a highly effective bridge plug for spot cementing sections of drill holes or wedging in off bottom situations for branch hole operations.
The CW Plug is placed by pumping through the drill string and locks in the drill hole upon leaving the rods. The cup on top provides a seal on the drill hole.
Cementing & wedging bottom packer (CWBP plug)
The Van Ruth® Cementing and Wedging Bottom Packer (CWBP) is used for bridging a drill hole, spot cementing or wedging operations similar to the CW Plug yet where the drill hole is making water and two-way seal is required. For dry holes where only a single acting seal is required, please see the CW Plug.
The CWBP is placed by pumping through the drill string and locks in the drill hole upon leaving the rods. Further compression of the packer will seal off the drill hole.
Pressure grouting top packer (PGTP)
The Van Ruth® Pressure Grouting Top Packer (PGTP) (formerly our CWTP) is designed to pressure grout through rods, the packer and into the hole.
The PGTP has a non return valve and can be used on its own in blind holes for unstable ground formations, fault zones and permeability testing.
For zone isolation or off bottom testing the PGTP is used together with the CWBP, multiple zones can be tested and/or cemented while pulling rods.
Sub set grouting packer (SSGP)
The Van Ruth® Sub Set Grout Packer (SSGP) has many applications for both surface and underground use.
Designed for pressure grouting drill holes at any angle including overhead the SSGP is also used together with CWBP to pressure grout specific fault zones, fortify unstable formations and to facilitate permeability testing. The SSGP has also been useful in drill string withdrawal.
