HDD Gel
HDD Gel is a high-yield sodium bentonite built for tough drilling jobs like HDD, tunnelling, and water wells. It builds a strong filter cake, keeps cuttings moving, and helps control fluid loss. Reliable, proven, and ready to perform when the pressure’s on.
APPLICATIONS
HDD Gel builds the viscosity and carrying capacity your drilling fluid needs to lift cuttings and keep the hole clean from start to finish.
Used as the base in HDD, tunnelling, and water well operations, it sets you up for reliable performance.
When blended with the right mix of polymers and lubricants, HDD Gel enhances hole stability, improves flow, and helps prevent downhole issues before they occur.

SPECIFICATIONS
Physical Appearance: Off-white to light tan powder
Specific Gravity: 2.4 - 2.6
Bulk Density: 900 kg/m3
RECOMMENDED TREATMENT
Typical concentrations range from 20 to 36 kg/m3.
As with all bentonite products, yield decreases as water quality reduces. In salty (>5,000 mg/L Clˉ) or hard (>240 mg/L Ca++) water, HDD Gel's performance is significantly reduced unless prehydrated in fresh water before adding it to the mud system.
TOXICITY AND HANDLING
Handle as an industrial chemical, wearing protective equipment and observing the precautions described in the Saftey Data Sheet (SDS).
PACKAGING AND STORAGE
HDD Gel is in 25kg bags and bulk sacks.
Store in a dry, well-ventilated area. Follow safe warehousing practices regarding palletising, banding, shrink-wrapping and stacking.
